A Secret Garden
Treasures are hidden in all of us. With that in mind, this blog is about self-discovery, creativity, and the beauty of life. As an educator, I look for little treasures in everyone and everything. In this blog, look for growth while I travel through my craft. I love paper, color, roses, and orchids. I love sunshine, children, family, and of course...life. I love God, and breezes, and free-flowing thoughts. Travel with me on my journey through the gardens of artistic discovery.

"Hi Peg, Your flowers are beautiful. I wanted to ask if the centers are the trims from the upholstery dept. I have tons of it from my days when I used to make totes and purses...I use it on minis alot but I never would have thought to use it for the centers...great idea. If it's not that...what is it? lol...just lovely."
Answer:
Irene...Yes, it is...I buy it at Hobby Lobby. They have a better collection in Tennessee than the fabric shops. I love to use trims, adding my own version of uniqueness, and there you have it. Some of the craft shops around this area have started carrying the large petals...cost is tremendous, though...so, I just take the flowers apart. HL has started carrying a daisey that even feels like paper...watch out Prima...:)...
The cloth flowers are made from fabric. I take a strip, fold in half, sew the two ends with a long running stitch...pull the string togather for fullness of the petal part, then glue down on a center made from soft chipboard...add centers from trim and greenry from the HL flower that I took apart...and that's it. They are so easy and so much fun to make. I love being a part of Kathryn's "Life on the Scrapbeach" virtual community. We have so much talent at "The Beach"...and the girls are totally wonderful...I hope this helps, Irene...Hugsies...PeggyAnne

What I Did...
Ah...to be so young and beautiful. My twins celebrated their big 38th birthday in a family favorite spot. This mini is very thick. With ten paper bag pages packed in color, ribbon, and interactive gadgets, the spine became a big challenge. I had to use book binding tape before attaching the paper to the spine...and this solved the problem I was having with cracking the spine as I flipped through the mini...
Celebration of the Big 38
Dad and Mom
I was helping sort through some old pictures to put in an album collection that I had made several years ago for Dad and Mom. Dad passed on about five years ago, and when the 4th of July rolls around I always think about the stories Dad told me about World War II. This mini album is a pictorial of the love they had for each other. They loved to do anything together, and just any ole' thing became a special event to them. They were married after World War II...

Designing the Album Exploring With the Texans
I enjoyed working on this mini. I tried to add more embellishments to the photo cards on the journaling sides as I worked on each page. In this mini album, "The Texans" visit a cave in Tennessee, and then go to New Mexico and hit the hiking trails...My daughter-in-law is a professional photographer, so, she looks for beautiful, breathing views. I always try to complement the photos she takes with the type of mini album I create. I am pleased with the outcome of this one... PeggyAnne
Texas
I made this mini about Spring Break...Spring Break was a ski trip to New Mexico. Of course, a few extra pictures were needed to fill the album...so...I added a few Halloween pics for good measure and a visit to the old swimming hole. Fun...Fun...Fun...

Thanksgiving with the Little Peeps...
I was just right on the thickness of this mini...finally...I enjoyed the outcome. I used Basic Grey papers...which I totally love...fibers and ribbon from Hobby Lobby, and charms from Tim Holtz and Hobby Lobby. I tried to use more techniques for interactive parts. I am more pleased with each new mini I complete...
Another Birthday...
Happy Birthday
This album is of my grandkiddies. They were three years old. I asked them to design the bags for me. I outlined their doodles with copper stickles, and I think the mini turned out precious...at least it is to me...:)...
